“Council” and “counsel” can often be confused though they have different meanings. “Council” is used as a noun which denotes a group of elected people who represent a larger group.
Counsel
Exemple : ‘’I provide counsel to people in debt in order to help them manage their finances.’’
“Counsel” is a verb which denotes the giving of advice and is related particularly to personal problems. In formal situations it can also be used as a noun as a synonym of “advice”.
