Continual or Continuous?

Continual
Exemple : ‘’The war was long and continual.’’
The words "continual" and "continuous" are almost synonyms although there are subtle differences between the two. "Continual" is used more in the sense of time.
Continuous
Exemple : ‘’There is a continuous row of houses along the waterfront.’’
"Continuous" is used much more commonly than "continuous" and can be used to refer both to time as well to space.
