Could of or Could have?

Could have

Exemple : ‘’If you had arrived earlier we could have gone out for dinner.’’

The phrase "could of" does not exist and the correct form is "could have" which can be contracted to "could've". It is used to imply that something has not happened but that at a certain time it was possible.
